Shweta Bachchan Nanda is the only exception in the Bachchan family who decided to stay away from the limelight of Indian entertainment industry. On the contrary, her teen daughter Navya Naveli Nanda is already getting all the limelight and making headlines with her glamorous pictures on social media.
Shweta Bachchan might belong to a family of Bollywood stars, but she herself shies away from the camera. She stays away from the spotlight and behaves too protective about her daughter.
At the launch of “Standing on the Apple Box” by Aishwarya R Dhanush, Shweta was asked about her daughter’s plans to act in Bollywood, to which she said, “I will be worried if she plans to be an actor. I don’t think it is as easy as it looks. You have to work extremely hard, especially if you are a woman. And I wonder if she has it in her to bear with all of it. Also, there is a lot of failure involved, which many people don’t see. The failure is personal, your acting skills… the way you look on screen is slashed out in open.”
She also talked about her mother’s journey of becoming an actress and her ambitions. She said, “My mother was the eldest daughter in the family. She graduated and told his father about her ambition of becoming an actor. Soon she joined the acting school and was a great student. I feel this is the way to go about it. Not because you see this as an easy way out. Instant fame and money in this industry is a myth.”
She is extremely worried about the privacy of her children, which she recently showed through an open letter asking the media to return her daughter her ‘private life’ back. She wrote, “My children are no celebrities. Why smash them on the internet for one reason or the other? Let them earn their attention on their own. It shouldn’t be just because they are related to somebody.”
To clear the doubts regarding gender biases, she said that the decision to keep Navya away from the media attention if not driven by any gender bias. She wants equal privacy for her son and would be equally protective of him as well. She called her family a “home of women” and said every female in the family has got freedom to pursue their dreams and Navya will also do the same
