I am a huge makeup lover and try to experiment with different colors and after my lips; I find my eyes to be the next best part of my face to try something different from just the regular colors. So when it comes to eyeliners, I quest for something beyond black and brows and this search helped my get some more eyeliners in shades of blue, sapphire, dark green, silver, golden and purple.
I got NYX Sapphire Auto Eye Pencil in my January ‘Fab Bag’ and found it really interesting to try on my eyes. I was too excited to try the color on my eyes. To know if the excitement made me happy or not, read on the NYX Sapphire Auto Eye Pencil review.
Promises the brand makes:
When you read the product description on their website or on the eyeliner box, it says, “NYX Auto Eye Pencil takes your look to a whole new level by emphasizing on your eyes with its rich, intense and long lasting eye pencil. The auto eye pencil has a creamy texture for intense pigmentation and moisturizing. It has twist-up style pencil that prevents you from the hassle of sharpening. It further claims it to be:
- Cruelty free
- Lead free
- Retractable eye pencil
What I found after using ‘NYX Auto Eye Pencil Sapphire’
Designed in a black metallic body, it looks like a sleek pen. With silver lining, it has space for the color to make selection easy. The retractable mechanism keeps the liner secure and prevents it from breaking during application. As I carry it in my bag, the slight click mechanism works well for me as it ensures that the cap is fixed and won’t come out. The pen has all the product details, which unfortunately start wiping off with use. What I liked the best about the packaging is the way complete details are given on the small pen, which is sometimes even difficult to find on the complete box.
The only thing I don’t like is if by mistake I hold the pen upside down, the complete eyeliner pencil comes out.
Though it is mentioned sapphire, after application it looks like navy blue and coordinates well with my blue outfits. As I like to apply color coordinated eyeliners in office as well, it works great due to its matte shade without any hint of glitter. To get a smokey and appealing look, I apply a thick layer and smudge it on the edges.
Just two strokes with normal pressure give me perfect shade. The good thing is that the tip is quite powerful and doesn’t break even after putting pressure. The bad thing it leaves marks near eyebrows which I need to clean repeatedly to make it look like eyeliner not eye shadow that I tried to apply on complete eyes.
Key features I liked in ‘NYX Auto Eye Pencil Sapphire’
- Creamy texture that makes it glides smoothly
- Long lasting (as promised by the company)
- Smooth on eyes and doesn’t heart even when applied on puffy eyes
- Sturdy tip
- Smooth and non-messy texture
- Easy application
- Water proof
- Attractive packaging
- Twist-up style
- Easy on skin
What I didn’t like about the eyeliner
- Tip comes out if I hold it upside down
- Leaves marks near eyebrows
Price: Rs. 275 for 0.22 gm. If you are lucky, you can get it at much lower prices during sales or at special offer.
Glamtainment Rating: 4/5 (1 star deducted for the marks left on the eyes and the tip that comes out too often)
It is a good product for those who love to experiment with different colors and most important don’t have oily skin. If you have oily skin, it will leave marks all around the eyes making you look like a Panda.
