Bollywood has gifted us many great heroes like Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan, to name a few. While these heroes have contributed in the society by entertaining the world with their amazing work, some actors like Nana Patekar and Salman Khan took an extra step by working for the betterment of the masses.
Among them there is one actor who went an extra mile by working for the common people. He is an emotional person who not just raises voice on sensitive social issues but also provides solution to the problems. With his innovative ideas and projects to help people, he became a real hero.
He is none other than the “Khiladi” of Bollywood – Akshay Kumar. He has won respect of people with his contribution to the society. Be it speaking against the New Year eve teasing incident in Bangalore, giving self-defense lessons, launching Bharat Ke Veer app to support families of Indian soldiers or building toilets to create awareness on sanitation, he has always proved that he is the real hero.
The actor has once again come up with another innovative project, where he has started insurance scheme for the stuntmen helping the actors perform their actions in movies.
With this move, the actor has not just won hearts of stuntmen and their families but has also fostered immense respect among the fans. He recently launched an insurance scheme for stunt men and women working in Bollywood. As per the scheme, 380 Indian stunt men and women will get financial aid of Rs. 6 lakhs for the injuries caused during the shoot.
Talking about the step taken for the stunmen, Ejaz Gulab, the general secretary of Movie Stunt Artist Association said, “Akshay has somehow made the impossible possible. Over the years, we had approached a number of producers and insurance companies, but they didn’t agree to provide insurance to us. It was very demoralising, but we don’t know what magic wand Akshay ji has used. We can’t thank him enough, as it has come as great news for us.”
Whenever we see any stunt scene in the movie, we just praise the actors for their amazing work and efforts. But in reality, in most of the cases, actors never perform these stunts due to the risk associated with them. You can imagine the risk from the fact that many stunt men and women have even lost their lives while performing dangerous actions scenes for the actors. But no one ever thought of their hard work and the risk they take to make money.
Being a stuntmen himself, Akshay Kumar understood their pain and the concern of their families. Noticing that there is no insurance scheme for the people risking their lives for actors, he came up with the idea of this insurance scheme in partnership with renowned cardiac surgeon, Dr Ramakanta Panda. In case of death, family of the stuntmen will get an amount of Rs. 10 lakhs.
